General mitabl questions

mitabl - “my table”, get it? - is an app and platform that connects cooks and food lovers looking for genuine home-cooked meals. mitabl sets out to boost and empower new local economies, to create a link between the local supplier and the consumer. We call them micooks and mifoodis! A micook has the option of preparing food in their own kitchen and serving it to mifoodis there, or they can provide meals to be picked up by mifoodis and taken away.

Far from it! mitabl doesn't involve food delivery. It will help establish connections and memories that will last a lifetime rather than just link cooks with hungry people. We make it possible for independent, up-and-coming cooks to cater to the needs of mifoodi users for simplicity and convenience, which leads to the creation of new jobs and opportunities for cooks to make a living. With mitabl, a local can prepare cuisine in their own home and sell it to the neighbourhood's foodies. mitabl transforms the idea of culinary apps by giving every cook a chance to be part of the food industry

Yes! Both micooks and mifoodi users can get involved with their communities more easily than ever before. mitabl allows users to choose an option for dine-in, where there will be a personalised experience with a neighbour or local, or arrange for takeaway, with much less contact but still that special home-cooked meal experience.

We take privacy seriously at mitabl. We only collect the information we really need when you register - your name, your email address and your phone number - and none of this is shared. After an order is made, the platform protects both micook and mifoodi users by only sharing the pick up address and further contact details if the micook and mifoodi both choose to communicate. mitabl protects all users from data breaches and we have your back - if you have any concerns at all you can contact mitabl here.

Yes! You can request a contactless pick-up at the time of order.

Simply download the mitabl app here. Then, follow the instructions to create an account as a micook or a mifoodi. All information is on the app but if you have any further questions you can contact mitabl here.

mitabl has a star rating system. All micooks and mifoodi users are rated each time they complete an order. When an order is complete, all users are asked to rate how they were treated, how was the food quality and other relevant questions about the meal and experience. Anyone with 4-plus stars becomes a top-rated user on mitabl.
Placing and Editing Orders.

If you are a mifoodi and have created an account on the mitabl app, you can then search for all the offers in your area. Simply choose a micook, select the meal or dishes you would like from the supplied menu, then choose whether you want dine in or takeaway. You can even schedule a meal ahead of time. Simply order your meal and checkout. Then, when your order is ready or the meal time has arrived, you can pick up your meal as a takeaway or look forward to your dine-in experience.

Once placed, orders cannot be changed. This is to protect micooks who put their heart and cost into cooking their meals. You can cancel your order at any time, see details below.

You can cancel your order at any time. If you cancel your order at least 12 hours before the designated time of the meal (pick up or eat in), there is no charge. Cancellations made any time after that (any time less than 12 hours before the meal), incur a 50% charge of the due amount to help the micook recover ingredient and other costs.

You can update your address on the Profile section of the mitabl app. If you have any further issues you can contact mitabl here.

mitabl does not offer an option for delivery. You can choose to pick up or dine in.

mitabl works for both solo micooks who are looking for connection within their community or who want to make some money on the side. It also works for solo diners who would like to dine out, without going into a restaurant, or who would love a home-cooked meal for one at home.

We are working on it! But at this stage there is no system on the mitabl app that allows for tips. We encourage micooks to charge a fair price for the meals they cook - that means taking into account the time it takes them to plan their menus, shop, cook and serve their mifoodi guest in their own homes. You should feel comfortable paying the price the micook has set. There is nothing to stop you leaving a cash tip upon pick up or after the meal however!
How do I manage my account?

Easy! By the click of a button you can change yourself from micook to mifoodi and vice versa.

Like any restaurant or meal, not everything suits everyone. You can rate the cook once the meal is complete and provide reviews. We would like to remind you that mitabl thrives on community, which includes being polite and courteous, understanding that all users want to enjoy the experience, so please be respectful of others using the app, and remember that safety and respect must be present in all encounters. You can see which dishes do really well in your area by downloading the mitabl app and searching for micooks in your area. It’s a great way to see what people are looking for, what ranks well and how you can cook something that sets you apart from the pack.

micooks pay for all their own ingredients, so it is important to consider this cost when you decide what to charge people. mitabl is about community but we don’t want you to be out of pocket! So do your research, have a think about what restaurants offer and charge, the time it takes you to cook the meal, and if you are offering dine in service, think about what you have to do to make your house ready for guests. Nobody expects a Michelin-starred restaurant, but it’s a good idea to make the house clean and check for dirty shoes under the table! Consider all the work you have to do, including shopping for ingredients, to get this meal out into the world. And if you don’t get it quite right at first, it’s a simple process to change what you charge after one or two orders. Remember to take into account the fees charged to micooks for each full order. Please see below for further details on fees.

The pick up or dining address is only shared after an order is made. mitabl is about connecting with your community through food, so a certain amount of trust is required to make it really work for you. But if you have any concerns at all you can contact mitabl here.

If you have an order pending, we recommend that you cancel your order first as a gesture of respect to the other person. If a micook cancels a pending order, the mifoodi will receive a full refund.

You can cook and organise your cooking days any way you like. If you prefer to batch cook, by all means do so. A lot of people find success doing elements ahead and adding plenty of fresh, new ingredients when it comes to serving the food.

mitabl doesn’t offer refunds from micooks, but you can always tell a mifoodi that they are welcome to leave a rating and a review on the app. And if they have any further concerns or questions, they should contact mitabl here instead of trying to sort it out with you, the micook.

mifoodi users are not charged any commission or fee for using the app, only for the meals they order. mitabl takes fees from micooks, however the first five orders incur no fee, and after that the more orders you take the less fees you pay.
